We built FLINT because every “free” file converter I used came with a catch: upload limits, queues, watermarks, tracking, or forced accounts. I wanted a tool that treats files as private by default and runs entirely in the browser, no server involved and no lock-ins. FLINT started as a simple client-side file converter and grew into a broader file toolkit: a converter for 100+ formats, a PDF Organizer for merging/splitting/rotating/cropping, Metadata Tools to inspect and clean EXIF/GPS/author data, and Subtitle Tools for fixing and converting SRT/VTT. The goal is to cover the boring but essential file chores in one place, fast and predictable. The approach was to push the browser as far as it can go: WebAssembly for heavy lifting, careful UX so non-technical users can batch actions without thinking about codecs or flags, and full support for 62+ languages so it is actually usable worldwide. FLINT is meant to feel like a local utility that happens to live in your browser, not another cloud service you have to trust.
