Hi Ruben, pretty cool, I would move the "Upload" button somewhere in the center. From a UI perspective I think the button top right is to log in or similar. Also if you can hide the download button until an image has been selected. Another great feature would be to have a library of icons so people could test it out. Just my 2 cents. Keep on coding! :)
@rob Thank you so much for the feedback! I do disable the download button, but I don't hide it as I figured since it's an important part of the UI, people might like to know where it is (e.g. how to get their icon) even before uploading. As for the library of icons to test, that's a great idea! I do offer a sample icon for download, but I agree something more robust is needed. I'll work on that!
Hey PH! Hope you find this useful. I made the first iteration a while back when I saw something else on ProductHunt that was similar but only let you choose from certain predefined icons. I assumed there had to be a way to make them algorithmically from any icon, and I was right! This new version has an improved algorithm, works 100% offline (on Chrome), and let's you see your edits in real-time. And it's totally free and open source. Hope you get some use out of it! The company I work for used it for generating their Android logo, no edits required.

Very cool, feature request - allow export for easy favicon.ico generation :)

I might try to use this for a project I'm working on. Amazingly simple and fast.
Love, love, love! Forgive me for excessive feedback but I have had this as a gap in mobile for a while and want to encourage you to do more with it!
I think there are a ton of people who build apps but don't have the resources/knowledge to get a quality icon. IMO this pairs perfectly with something like launchkit.io, and you can look at them to get a few clues for how to ramp this up. This really makes it possible, so well done. If I could make a couple of feature requests:
- Make it clear that the square shape works for iOS, and iTunes will put the rounded corners on for you. Then you can make one icon for iOS and Android, as long as it's not the rounded one. Maybe square = iOS and Android, and round = Android only?
- Allow me to log in and save multiple icons labeled by app name.
- Allow me to export the 1024 size but also make a version of the icon for all of the other Android asset sizes. Those are a pain because no one else asks for them, but if you just made the normal icon in those sizes you'd have a good solution. One .zip with an iOS and Android folder?
- Allow me to import a set of icons. Alternatively, include more open source icons sets. I am guessing you have this planned. Maybe a noun project integration?
- Maybe charge for the extra features. Per app icon, I bet you could easily get $29 or $49 depending on what you offer. $99 for an unlimited plan and I am your first customer!
Hoping you keep expanding this. You've found a nice gap to fill and you can do it way more effectively and more cheaply than something like 99designs or other sources. Good luck Ruben!
