Hey Product Hunt! I am the creator of FitFido.
I built this because my dog started gaining weight, which started to affect her joints 😭.
I realized that most kibble bags just give you a vague kcal per kg number. When you have a 10lb dog, that number is basically meaningless. Even my vet gave me a ballpark figure for her calories that turned out to be totally off, so I had to start adjusting things on the fly.
I figured there had to be a better way than just guessing. I started researching the actual veterinary formulas for RER (Resting Energy Requirement) and DER (Daily Energy Requirement) to figure out exactly how much to feed her. I also realized that measuring by "cups" is way too inconsistent, so the app focuses on grams to keep things precise.
One of the biggest headaches was treats. It felt impossible to know how many she could actually have without overdoing it, so we built a 10% treat limit directly into the daily feeding allowance.
The heart of the app is the AI scanner. You just snap a photo of the food bag, and it decodes the label to calculate the calories for you. Then the AI Health Coach tracks her weight trends and lets me know when to nudge her goals up or down based on how she is actually progressing.
