Firebnb

While traveling around Southeast Asia, I found myself once again hunting for a place to stay. My usual routine is to gather options from Google Maps, Booking, Agoda, and Airbnb, then narrow down by location, price, host, amenities, and, of course, ratings. I’ve known for a while that Airbnb doesn’t offer a rating sort option, but this time it really hit me. Booking has it, though imperfectly—it’s mixed with other factors, but at least it’s there. On Airbnb, though, it’s a mess. It mixes in unrated listings, and there’s no way to filter for “Guest Favourites.” Curious, I googled why Airbnb doesn’t offer this feature, since it seemed simple to implement. The answer that seemed most plausible was that they want to encourage people to explore and stay in a variety of places. While I get the idea, I’m usually just trying to find the best-rated spot quickly! So, I decided to build a Chrome extension that would do exactly that. After a week of coding, Firebnb was born!
