I created Finicky because as a web developer it was very hard to keep my private and professional browsing sessions apart. I was using one browser for development use, with extensions for cookie management and similar stuff, and one for my own use where I wanted ad blocking, twitter sessions etc. It was hard to keep the browsers separate when links were all opened in one of them. I couldn't find any free and open source alternatives at that point, so even though I had never made a macOS application I ended up building Finicky. I've been running it for the last 4 years and it's been very helpful. I recently completed a large rewrite of the application with a better configuration format and a more focused feature set and have finally decided to create a stable release.
