Hi, I'm Siddharth, founder of Tailwebs, the team behind Fincurry. We built it because in many households money is shared across several people and several ways to pay. One person pays the rent by card, another covers groceries in cash, someone else has the electricity bill or a subscription on their phone. In India that might be the kirana bill on UPI and cash for vegetables; elsewhere it is a shared card and a bank transfer. Either way, nobody has a clear answer to a simple question: how are we doing this month?
Fincurry starts as a personal expense tracker. When you are ready, invite your family over WhatsApp and the same app becomes a family group of up to 15 people, with no mode switch. An expense one member adds shows up on every phone within seconds, and logging one takes about 10 seconds, even offline. Recurring bills such as rent, EMIs, electricity and subscriptions are logged for you with a reminder and a one-tap confirm, and category budgets alert you before you overshoot.
For groups, split bills and settle up are a main part of the app, on iOS and Android. Split any bill equally, by amount, % or shares, let several people pay one bill together, and see who owes whom on Home. Settle up in one tap or send a WhatsApp reminder, and download a monthly or yearly split summary as a PDF. A recurring bill keeps its split every month. Splitting stays off until the group admin turns it on.
Every group has its own currency, so a trip group can run in dirhams or dollars while home stays in rupees. The app works in 22 languages, among them English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi and Japanese. Fincurry is free, with no ads. It is a tracking tool, not financial advice.
One thing we would like your view on: when your household shares money, is splitting and settling up the part you need most, or the shared budget?
