Finance Register is a local-first Mac app for accounts, transactions, scheduled bills and income, budgets, reports, and planning.
A csv import/export toggle would be really helpful for moving data in and out, especially when switching from another tool or sharing with an accountant.
@ssaglamoz92701 Finance Register Imports CSV, OFX, QFX, QBO, and QIF files. Export transactions to CSV for all transactions, this month, last month, this year, or a custom date range.
One thing that would make this even better for me is a way to import CSVs from my bank statements directly, since right now I imagine manually entering transactions would get tedious fast. Even a simple column mapping setup would save a ton of time and make the app way more practical day to day.
@zmra1155063 Thanks! It actually does support that already. 😊 Finance Register can import CSV, OFX, QFX, QBO, and QIF files. The CSV importer includes a column mapping feature, so you can match the columns from your bank’s export to the fields in Finance Register. Once you’ve mapped a format, you can save it and reuse it for future imports, so you don’t have to set it up again.
Love that it's local-first on Mac—feels rare these days to see a finance app that actually respects keeping data on your machine instead of pushing everything to the cloud.
@polatulqy That was one of my main goals when I built it. Your financial data stays on your Mac by default—no accounts to create and no third-party servers storing your information. If you want access on the go, there’s also an optional iPhone companion app that securely syncs through your private iCloud account, so your data stays under your control. Optional automatic backups can be saved to iCloud Drive, a local folder, or any custom location you choose, and you can set exactly how many backup versions to keep.
Kept everything on my Mac which i really appreciate, the scheduled bills view finally made me stop forgetting rent. The reports are plain but load instantly which is a nice change from bloated finance tools.
The local-first approach is such a smart call here, especially for something handling financial data where people rightfully worry about cloud storage. Really hope more personal finance tools follow this path.
