I built Fileon because I kept losing track of files on my Mac. I'd remember the content — a renovation quote around 90k, a contract clause, a paragraph from last month's report — but never the filename or folder. Spotlight searches by filename, not by meaning. So I created Fileon: a macOS app that indexes local files and lets you search them with natural language. Just describe what you're looking for and Fileon finds it by semantic meaning, not keyword matching. Everything runs on-device — no cloud, no uploads, your files never leave your Mac. The embedding model runs locally via ONNX Runtime. It handles Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and plain text, extracting content deep inside documents that Spotlight often misses.
