Fat Llama

Really poor service, had to jump through a million hoops including a 10 minute phone interrogation as to what I was planning to do with the kit we were hoping to hire. Really invasive questioning, felt like I was being investigated by the Police. I understand the need to be thorough, but this went to a whole different level and it's not ok.

Fat llama is one site where you will find old non working items when you rent them the owner will make a claim against you and the platform will start taking money out of your account. Please stay away if you don't want to wake up to an empty bank account. You will regret borrowing or lending you have been warned. Don't expect a contact from them before they try to deduct hundreds of pounds from your account without calling you or messaging you. Bunch of cowboys.

Worse customer service experienced ever! Not only my listed items did not show in the search, but when I emailed them to report the problem the Shelley girl at customers service was only able to say she would have failed a report to send to their tech. After that I carry on emailing them to have news regarding my issue, none of them came back to me for over a week, until today when I told them I would have cancel my account, a dude came back to me apologising for the late response told me he would had look into my problem and came back to me ASAP (that was 5 hours ago) since then I haven’t heard nothing again. I have then decided to delete my FatLlama account for the simple reason that if they are not so active as customer service for such a small issue, I can’t imagine how can they be if something goes wrong between you and your borrower. I have read many bad reviews, and is really not worth the pain. Friends have got their item stolen and they have done nothing in repaying the back, God knows if they even have an insurance. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT rent on this site!

Untrustworthy, insincere and slow response time in relation to Customer Service. I'm awaiting an item to be returned from a 'borrower' and the consistent negligence from the Fat Llama team is taking its strain. You'll know who I am as I've emailed you 3 times this week and yet again, vacant responses! Check all your inboxes and attend to the matter urgently. Also suspicious regarding many of these '5 Star' reviews - it wouldn't surprise me if the majority are fabricated; somebody else I know had a similar experience earlier on this year and advised me against this. I wish I'd have listened.

I have a projector that I've rented out a few times on the platform. The lending process has been pretty seamless and I've made back about half the cost of the projector which is class. After that, I borrowed a drone when I was going on holiday to Spain, just outside Barcelona and I got some really cool shots and it was really good value. Very cool product, hope they spread to other countries

I lend out my scooters here and make a decent bit of cash on the side. App is getting better every week and is the only way I use the product.

Got almost $3000 worth of Camera kit stolen. Fat Llama refused to respond or pay back. Seeking similar cases and/or advice please!! My camera kit was stolen on Fat Llama and after an agonizing claim process following every step I was told to do, Fat Llama rejected my claim. More importantly they have stopped responding even when I pleaded to provide further evidence. Realizing they are cutting me off I started to google similar cases and what I found is chilling. First of all Fat Llama is based in the UK( which I’m aware of ) but this is not the weird part. The odd thing is that I couldn’t find any Fat Llama U.S contact information. No phone number, no address. Tried searching for business registration and no luck either. So even if I file FTC complaint or lawsuit, where would the legal documents go? Btw is it even legal for a UK company operating in the U.S without a U.S mailing address? Do they even pay U.S tax? Can I report them to the IRS? I’ve already been to the cops but they said this is a civil matter and they won’t investigate or prosecute. Asked me to sue Fat Llama right away. But again I don’t have their U.S address or contact how do I sue? Lenders from UK do you have better experiences with Fat Llama when it comes to your claims? How did you do it? Any experience or advice you could share is much appreciated!
