I built this because every transcription tool I tried wanted an account before it would tell me whether it was any good, and most of them are a web form in front of somebody else's speech API. Your recording gets handled by two companies and you agree to both retention policies. So, FastScribe runs on wholly-owned server with a full suite of GPUs, CPUs, etc. Your file is uploaded, transcribed on that machine with no outbound network call, and the audio is deleted the moment the text exists. No third-party AI service ever receives it. Being straight about the limits, because I would rather you find out from me: - No speaker labels yet. You add those in the review pass. It is the current thing I am building. - It is machine transcription, so it makes mistakes. Clear audio transcribes well, a meeting recorded across a room does not, and no tool fixes that. - The transcript text is kept so you can come back to it. - If your requirement is that the audio never leaves your own machine, no hosted service meets that, mine included. There is a guide on the site for running transcription yourself, including where it gets painful. Your first file is free with no account, so judge it on your own audio rather than my description. The no-account first file is genuinely great for trying it out, but it'd be super useful to have speaker labels in the transcript since that's something I always end up doing manually after exporting.
