So I built the alternative I wanted: peer-to-peer, no account, no cloud, one-time payment. Under the hood it's React Native + WebRTC, it goes directly phone to phone. The free tier lets you connect 2 camera phones. The Owner Pass (one-time, no subscription ever) unlocks 5. That's it. No tiers, no renewals, no surprises. Setup was surprisingly quick, just installed the app on my old Pixel and had it streaming to my current phone in under five minutes. Love that there's no monthly fee, the privacy angle is a nice bonus.
