Hi Product Hunt. I'm Phil, a consultant in two specialties, neurology and rehabilitation medicine, and I've built Faro on my own since April because choosing what to watch was eating the best hour of my evening.
How it works: rate the films you've seen, tap Help me choose, narrow it down if you like (a runtime cap, a genre or era, only the services you already have) and Faro comes back with films from your own ratings. Nobody can pay to put a film in front of you. Save the contenders to a shortlist, then lock one in and watch.
A few details. When nothing fits your filters it says so and asks before it loosens anything. The watchlist earns its keep: save a film and Faro shows where it's streaming and tells you when it turns up at no extra cost on a service you already have. Letterboxd users can bring their ratings across in one step, with the file read on the phone. With friends, Watch Together searches everyone's taste at once and Watch Party gives the group a shared list to add to and react to until someone locks in the pick. It supports eight of the nine measures on Apple's accessibility label.
It's free with no ads and no tracking. Ask me anything. And if it finds your film tonight, I'd like to hear which one.
