Most anti-shopping tools try to block the urge. FakeHaul feeds it instead. It's a full fake store with made-up products, lightning deals that reset at midnight, coupon stacking, "only 6 left" badges, checkout, tracking updates, even an unboxing for a package that doesn't exist. Every order totals $0.00. When you're done, you get a receipt showing how much money you kept. FoodNeverComes did this for takeout. Turns out the fun was never the stuff arriving.
Love the concept, especially the receipt at the end showing your savings. One thing I'd love to see is a weekly summary email that tallies up how much you "saved" across all your fake hauls, almost like a report card for resisting real shopping. Would make the wins feel even more concrete over time.
@kamileoban5dvh Great idea! The principle of this product is to not use any user info (including email) to be completely private and non monetized, so I probably won't be able to send any email. I will add a local version of weekly summary on how much you saved so that it would appear as a report card! Thanks again for the suggestion

The "lightning deals that reset at midnight" detail is chef's kiss, turning the dopamine hit into the actual product instead of pretending to remove it. And the final receipt showing what you kept reframes the whole thing as a savings tool without ever lecturing.
@ninceis25572 You caught the exact design bet: don't fight the dopamine, redirect it. The one rule I gave myself was that the receipt never lectures, it just shows the number. Turns out "$149.97 kept" preaches better than any preaching 😁
Love the concept, especially the unboxing bit, that sounds delightful. One thing I'd love is a "streak" or savings history view so you can see how many fake carts you've abandoned this month and your running total of money saved, kind of like a Duolingo for impulse control. Would make the "receipt at the end" feel even more satisfying.

The midnight flash deals and "only 6 left" badges hooked me for a whole hour. Loved seeing the receipt total at the end, oddly satisfying way to break the shopping itch.
@berke746137 A whole hour means the fake scarcity works a little too well haha 😄 Glad the receipt landed. That end number is the whole product in one screen.
the unboxing moment is such a clever move, basically completing the whole ritual without the buyer's remorse part. love how it borrows that dopamine loop from the real thing and flips it on its head.
@emrep5vj That's it exactly - the ritual completes, the remorse doesn't ship. Fun build detail: the unboxing pacing took more tuning than any feature; the confetti has to land right after the shake or the payoff feels cheap. The stuff was never the point, so the reveal had to be.
Launch-day update: I’m here all day and replying to everything. The question I care about most is whether FakeHaul reduces an impulse, or simply rehearses it. Brutal answers welcome!
