Maybe I'm showing my age here, but why do people care whether someone knows you've seen their FB messages or not?

@AnujAdhiya To me, it makes me feel guilty for not responding right away. and also... some people are nuts (let's be honest, lol) and get pissed when you do not reply to a text or message the second you read it... so this eliminates them knowing you read it.
@jehnglynn But then wouldn't they be doubly mad that they sent you a message and you (apparently) hadn't bothered to even read it despite having those bright red notifications in your face?
@AnujAdhiya i don't like it when people know my activity. i use pixelblock for gmail. there are many times when i read a message with the intent to respond later.

Great concept, but double edged sword: in many cases, my 'unseen' messages would continue to show a notification badge on the messages icon.
