Hi everyone, this is not exactly tech 😃. FABRIQ is a line of modern handbags and other fashion accessories made with handwoven textiles from eastern India. I am working on FABRIQ as a passion project.
I am from Orissa, India – the state where our handloom textiles come from– and I wanted to do something to generate new demand for weavers whose income has declined dramatically as mass manufacturing has completely overtaken handloom production. After a lot of brainstorming, research, and animated discussions with my friend and fashion designer–Bryna Hubbs–I decided that fashion accessories is where we should begin.
Also, we will donate majority of proceeds from FABRIQ sales to EducateGirls.in – a wonderful non-profit organization that works to keep Indian girl children enrolled in school.
