What do you think? …

Landon Elscott
Originally, I built this for myself as I looked to transition out of a company I've spent nearly 2 decades at and now that I've accepted a position, I've looked to devote some time into making this something for anyone that's interested. A bit of back story. About two years ago, my fiance and I bought a house...a month later I hit a deer and totaled my car...and then I got rear ended in my brand new car and totaled it...and then she got sick and couldn't work...and then the company I had devoted 2 decades of my life to began to cut benefits, bonuses, etc while my little side business began to struggle. And we had a (now delayed) wedding we wanted to save for. So, I ended up working 40 hours during the week, taking on a part time job as a night auditor Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm-7am. Many weekends (to see my kids play sports) I'd go 24 to 36 hours without sleep, spending whatever I could Sunday to get caught up on sleep. Meanwhile, I had began planning my exit, but life wasn't quite the same as it was the last time I had interviewed some 18 years prior. And maybe it was anecdotal, but they were all in person, single round and basically hired with a handshake. Now, it was multiple job boards, bulk applications, multiple rounds of phone, video, in person, and seemingly no way to keep track of it all. There were some apps that claimed to help, but I just didn't like them and I felt like they were pushing AI resume builders down my throat instead of just helping me understand what was working. My background was in Project Management. I wanted KPIs, I wanted process funnels, I wanted to take lots of data and crunch it quickly and to know what was working. And so from 11pm to 7am on the weekends, I sat at a hotel desk and built this. Meet F2Insights.com The objective is to bring the concept of a project management software built specifically for a job search. Dashboard - Your 10,000 foot view of what's relevant for your search. You've got the jobs you've recently applied for, upcoming interviews, and important To Do asks. Companies | Jobs | Interviews | Offers That's the basic pipeline, though you can add Companies as part of the job application or add a company first and link it. And then you work your way through the pipeline, adding contacts, dates, automated todo tasks based upon triggers you set, and a variety of other tools such as gas price calculations, notes, benefits, and more that all get added to the database. That information then creates a positive feedback loop, providing insights for the community based upon salaries, locations job titles, and more, but it also provides tons of data for the OpenAI API to digest. Once you reach offer stage, this information gets compiled and you can use AI to compare and contrast, helping you determine the decision to make by factoring in commute costs, work/life balance, cost of living, and more. Insights Know how your job search is going relative to peers and use insights to help you determine where you're getting caught up. If you're getting higher rates of interviews to applications than the "market", you're likely doing lots of things right, but if you're below average it might be time to consider a new resume or reconsideration of your approach. Insights can also help you see whether you're on track - "did you slack off this month and submit half as many applications or did you see a surge in interviews around the time you swapped to a resume?" Career Pathway One of things I realized early on in my career was that my job title didn't quite match my responsibilities. I had gotten hired on as a drafter, but then I was just chugging along taking on more responsibility as a drafter without a change of title. Before I knew it, I was doing full product life cycle management and still paid as a drafter. Eventually, I talked to a colleague and he said "you're a damn product champion paid like a janitor". So what Career Pathways does it takes what you're current position is "whether that's a baby sitter or an engineer" and helps you pave your path to your career goals without actually having to know exactly what the next step is in your career. Email Scraper Note, this is still somewhat a work in progress parsing emails. Basically, how it works is you link your inbox and it just automatically fetches job applications as job boards send out email notifications as an easy way to get them into the system. It could probably use some tweaking. Batch Emailer Possibly the most powerful part as I'm not aware of anything quite like it. Let's say you have 20 applications that have gone silent and you've had 10 interviews that seemed to go well and yet you've heard nothing. You need to follow up, but that's 30 emails. So, what the Batch Emailer does is it creates a queue of follow up emails using a variety of variables like {first name}, {position}, {applicationDate}, etc and then using either your own input or AI generation, the system can put together a seemingly highly personalized email multiple email addresses all at once even if half of them are following up on interviews and half are following up on applications. The system sends via IMAP, uses your email address as the from and reply-to and the content is written in a way the receiver has absolutely no idea you are emailing them using a mass mailer. Beta Testing Like I mentioned, this is something I originally built for personal use and am now attempting to spin out to the community. As a result, going from something that didn't need authentication to something that's now community driven is likely going to have some growing pains. I've tried to catch as much as I could of bugs, but almost need the community at this point to help - so please use the support page to reach out if you find something. Some of the features are pretty heavily integrated with OpenAI, which does cost money and can quickly add up, so I do have some of those behind a subscription paywall with some limits on use. I'm not exactly sure on where pricing will land, but I did some napkin math and figure $3 a month would probably be a good start that covers usage, subsidizes freemium, hosting without getting too greedy - after all many of the people needing to use it the most are not necessarily in a position to splurge. I recognize that if some bugs are uncovered that could be frustrating for paying users, but I'm bootstrapping this and can't exactly burn up a bunch of cash and I feel pretty confident at where it's at - email scraper could be the kicker though. Otherwise, I've tried to keep the vast majority of features that don't lean on AI to be freely open for all users without a subscription. I have a habit of obsessing over trying to make sure it's absolutely perfect to the point I will just never release it, so I decided to just bite the bullet and send it out into the world and see what people think, get feedback, have some real data to use to ensure calculations are working correctly, find some things to fix, and hopefully build something that can be useful to others like it was for me! Support I'm a bit of a one man band, but if you need help just send an email to support@f2insights.com and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
