Excalidraw Animator turns your whiteboard sketches into polished animations. No video editing skills required. Draw in Excalidraw like you always do, then add keyframe animations from a library of 34 types — fade, slide, bounce, draw-on, and more. Arrange everything on a visual timeline, preview in real-time, and export as GIF or WebM with one click. Built for developers, educators, and content creators who want their architecture diagrams, explainers, and tutorials to actually move.
Hey Product Hunt!
I’m Joud, a Principal Software Engineer and AWS Solutions Architect. I spend a lot of time creating architecture diagrams and technical explainers — and Excalidraw is my go-to tool for that.
The problem? Static diagrams only tell half the story. When I’m explaining event-driven architecture or pub/sub patterns, I need things to move — data flowing between services, messages hitting queues, events propagating through systems.
So I built Excalidraw Animator: an animation studio that sits on top of Excalidraw. You draw like you normally do, then layer on keyframe animations from 34 presets, arrange them on a visual timeline, and export as GIF or WebM.
No After Effects. No Premiere Pro. No learning curve outside what you already know.
It’s free and open source. I’d love your feedback — especially on which animation types would be most useful for your workflow.
