Escriba records Meet, Teams or in-person meetings and gives you the transcript, minutes and answers to any question about them. Free and open source: you bring your own Gemini, GPT or Claude key, and audio goes straight to the AI — no server, no account.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Álvaro, and I built Escriba because every meeting tool I tried wanted a monthly subscription and my audio on their servers.
Escriba is a Chrome extension that does the whole job in your browser:
• Records the meeting tab and your mic together (Meet, Teams web, Zoom web), or just the mic for in-person meetings.
• Transcribes in 5-minute segments while you record, so a long meeting never gets lost: if the AI is busy or the network drops, the audio stays in your browser and it retries on its own.
• Gives you minutes with templates (full minutes, tasks with owners, follow-up email…), lets you ask the meeting questions and exports to Word, PDF or SRT.
• Also works with audio or video files you already have (mp3, m4a, wav, mp4).
• No key yet? Record anyway: the audio stays on your computer and gets transcribed as soon as you add one.
The catch? You bring your own API key. Gemini's free tier covers daily meetings, and you can use GPT or Claude for the minutes if you prefer. In exchange: no subscription, no account, nothing stored on anyone's server. The code is open source (MIT) so you can check exactly what it does.
It's in English and Spanish. I'd love to hear what's missing for your meetings!
