GIS is undergoing a monumental shift — going from when GIS was a niche within governments and utilities, to now where the increasing amounts and quality of geospatial data from sensors and satellites creates a GIS opportunity for 90% of businesses out there. However, most businesses don’t have the knowledge in-house that is required to use legacy GIS tools. A lot of the GIS work isn’t conceptually hard – just the software’s badly designed. Enernite wants to do for GIS what Figma did for design.

As a geotechnical engineer, I only use GIS from time to time. We don’t have an ArcGIS license due to its high cost, so I mainly rely on QGIS. It does the job, but the user experience feels a bit outdated.
