What do you think? …

It's on Android too
Rohan
@_benju_ Yep we launched the Android version in 2016. Check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/ap...

Going to give this a shot! 👌🏻
Rohan
@thisdickie Thanks Sam! How are you finding the app so far?
Sam Dickie
@rohanek great so far! Really enjoying it
OSCAR LANCE
Will give it a shot! Which language do you recommend to start with first?
Rohan
@theoscarlance Awesome to hear you're giving it a go! The best language really depends what you're interested in. If you'd like to learn more about how the web works + web design, try out the "web" topic, otherwise if you'd like to know more about the principles of coding start out with the "coding" topic. Or give both a quick try! Personally, I quite like switching between programming and web design.

Awesome!! I'm totally going to try this! I bought some coding courses but I much prefer to read rather than watch. Do you want feedback on how it works for me?
Rohan
@kadiskad Hi Kadiska, Thanks for trying Encode out. I'd love to hear your feedback! Please get in touch at rohan@upskew.com or drop a comment here 👍

Hi Product Hunt! Really cool to see Encode on here. We recently launched for iOS, after launching our Android app in 2016. Encode is an totally interactive way to learn to code on your iPhone + iPad - no coding experience required! For our iOS app, we have short coding challenges and lessons in HTML + CSS + JavaScript. Making the app as interactive as possible was really important to me as I always found I remembered and learned more about programming when I was coding. To this end, we let you run, write and experiment with code in a mobile code editor, and automatically provide feedback for your code. Happy to answer any questions, and I'd love to hear your feedback. Email me at rohan@upskew.com or leave a comment here.

Looks good, but how is this different than the other alternatives?
Rohan
@petrhon This is different from others in the mobile space as Encode encourages experimenting with HTML/CSS and JavaScript code on your iPhone/iPad. We're all about learning by doing. If you look at what's currently offered on the iPhone for learning to code, much of the learning offered is quite passive via video lecture format or a minified textbook with quizzes. We thought a much better way is to involve the student with things that directly "tests" what they're learning.
FDLS
@petrhon I think the experience is better than what I've seen so far.

Very excited to try this out! Something to do during my commute. :)
Rohan
@j_ennychu Thanks Jenny! Making Encode work offline was something really important to us, to make sure it worked whenever you're offline or stuck on a train! 🚂 Feel free to leave any feedback here or via email at rohan@upskew.com
