Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I worked at Apple VPG (Vision Products Group) for the past 7.5 yrs. In a big company when some top-down decision came down, even if I thought it was wrong I just had to do it.. and Apple never let us make personal apps. Not being able to build my own stuff for 7.5 yrs felt like holding in a sneeze the whole time lol.
Got laid off recently and while looking for next job, wanted to make apps. Thought about visionOS first, but Vision Pro is way too expensive to buy with my own money when unemployed lol.. thankfully still have my iPhone so started making iOS apps instead. Who knows, if this app does well enough that I can comfortably buy a Vision Pro, I really want to make visionOS apps too haha. I actually have so many ideas I want to build.
Funny thing is this is actually my 2nd app. My 1st one (a music player) is still stuck in Apple review waiting for approval, so this one got released first!
Since I'm building outside alone without company internal tools I'm used to, level might not be super high yet, please understand lol. Everything is so new to me, even just waiting on App Store review.
App is called EmoTick. My daughter is obsessed with those clicky fidget toys, so I wanted to make one for iPhone. But when I looked around, there were already tons of clicker apps out there. So I really wanted to differentiate mine with crazy good visuals that blend with the tactile feel and clicks.
It has 9 squishy 3D pads that light up when you tap, mechanical click sounds and haptics, and you can switch modes (counter + timer, counter only, or just pads for pure fidgeting). No subscription, 3 days free trial and $1.99 one-time buy to keep forever.
I set it at $1.99, but have zero sense on indie app pricing yet. What do you think is a fair price for this? Also if I somehow get hired at Apple again, shipping new apps isn't allowed, but updating already published ones is usually okay lol. So I really rushed to get this out while I can! I'm working on updates right now, so any feedback or reviews will really help me improve the app a lot!
