Amazing idea which cannot get any more useful now-a-days. Now, I'm an "energy saving noob" but I know that there's also Sense by @cmicali – how are you guys different?
P.S.
Hope you dominate at CES ;)
@joshsoftorino we use different approach to device recognition: we detect devices by our algorithms and users can tech the system via training mode for more precise recognition. Beside this, we support 3-phase electrical networks (for both grid and grid+solar) and we support 220V/50Hz networks (so Ecoisme works in both Europe and US).
Josh, have you tried Sense?
@adiatlov Thanks for the detailed reply. Nope, I haven't tried Sense. But I stumbled upon it and it gave me a similar idea.
Btw – LOVE the video! I'm sure @nivo0o0 will be able to make a killer gif for it )))
@adiatlov@joshsoftorino Thanks for the detailed response! I had a similar question - kind of seems like "magic" but the magic seems to be well thought out and planned algorithms. Thanks again!
Guys, congrats with the launch on PH! Seems like a great product.
By the way, do you plan to integrate water/gas consumption metrics through the IoT?
It would be really nice to have everything in one app.
P.S. It's nice seeing my friend Brad in the video :)
Cheers,
V
@victorbasyul right now we're focusing only on electricity consumption and device detection of home appliances. Do you find disaggregation of water/gas consumption important for products like ours?
Report
@adiatlov yeah, I totally get that your main focus is on electricity right now. And that's totally understandable since you are just getting momentum. Although I do believe that water & gas metrics are highly important as well. It would be really cool to have different stats for those. So, that's just a feature request :)
All the luck in the world for you, guys. I can't wait for you to launch it publicly ASAP! :)
@victorbasyul thank you for your advise and great feedback :) I have one more questions: do you want to have just overall data about water/gas consumption or you want some disaggregation too (e.g. how much water was spent in for shower and how much was spend in the kitchen)?
Report
@adiatlov splitting consumption between rooms/areas would be valuable in home resource management
@a12rj right now you can do it by naming devices like "AC - Living Room" and "AC - Bedroom|. What do you think, will it be helpful?

@ivan_pasichnyk congrats with all your achievements! Two questions: How you detect different home appliances and what level of details Ecoisme can provide? Thanks
@bogdan_su thank you for your questions!
>>How you detect different home appliances?
We put a clamp over the main cable in the fuse box. Then Ecoisme measures energy usage and sends data over WiFi to our server where this data is analysed. We analyse different characteristics of electrical network, including active and reactive power, voltage, current, etc and then detect on energy usage patterns of home appliances.
>>what level of details Ecoisme can provide?
We detect all major home appliances (those which consume over 100W). However, we are also experimenting with lower thresholds.
What a fantastic and easy-to-use solution! Energy saving is a crucial element in all industries and it should be standard practice in all ordinary homes as well.
Just wondering guys, how sensor setup process looks like?
Thanks!
@geek_1001 it's quite easy: you place a contactless sensor over the main wire in your fuse box and plug it to the power outlet. Then you connect to the sensor via app (it uses Bluetooth for connection) and select your home Wifi network. So installation process takes you less than 10 minutes.

As a house builder and technology lover, I'm very interested in the quantified home. Keen to beta test/learn more about usage analytics of and incorporation into homes we build (testing and distribution of Ecoisme in our region - AU)
@a12rj thank you! Yes, it looks interesting, there can be potential for cooperation. Do you know somebody from Lucis? My colleagues, Ivan and Maria, are at the CES in Las Vegas now. So if Lucis attending CES, we can schedule a meeting there.

Seems like this is "must have" device for positive energy home! Could the sensor manage IoT devices? I mean, to turn on/off or even switch between modes... If so, the Ecoisme might convert zero energy home into positive:)
@klarpen sure, with Ecoisme zero energy home becomes possible :) The system will be integrated with connected home devices, so it will be possible to control devices, not just monitor.

@adiatlov That's great! I added Ecoisme to my wishlist:)
Hello,
I’m Ivan Pasichnyk, CEO and co-founder of Ecoisme.
We are proud to launch pre-orders for our product .To celebrate the occasion we are extending a limited time offer with discounts available for you. Our sensor is now available at the pre-order price of $200, instead of our regular price of $300. Order it now and save $100 before the price goes up
We have been working hard on Ecoisme for the past three years, and it is now time to share it with the world. This year Ecoisme will hit the market and will be made available to consumers worldwide.
In 2016 Ecoisme has confirmed its position as the next smart home device every connected household will need. After being acclaimed the best smart home innovation of CES 2016, Ecoisme took off to Europe, where it was voted the best smart living innovative product by EDF – the world’s largest electricity producer. America and Europe weren’t the only ones to recognize Ecoisme’s potential. Ecoisme signed a partnership with Dubai Water and Electricity Authority and will monitor domestic solar energy production and electricity consumption in the city, as Dubai saw it as a cornerstone of its strategy to become the most technologically advanced city in the world by 2020.
In 2015, we had completed our successful campaign on Indiegogo. Within two weeks we had reached our goal, with over 400 orders.
What is Ecoisme and why is it useful for you?
Ecoisme is a monitoring system that allows users take active roles in managing their bills. By detecting major home appliances, solar and grid energy, Ecoisme helps owners keep track of their resources and save up to 15% on their energy bills. When integrated with other IoT devices, Ecoisme can manage them according to the local tariffs and user habits. But the benefits don’t end there. By monitoring electricity usage of your major appliances and by applying its machine learning algorithms Ecoisme can predict when an appliance is likely to fail. This can have you better prepared and save even more money.
What is the technology behind it?
Ecoisme is a sensor that is easy to connect to any electrical panel, using two clamps and an application. We recommend that the installation is done by a professional electrician. To detect and measure electrical devices, Ecoisme uses a machine learning algorithms, user behavior analysis and measures active/reactive power. All data is transmitted via WiFi. Ecoisme is easy to integrate with other IoT solutions.
How does it work?
You connect Ecoisme to your electrical panel and download the app. No cuts are needed. It is also easy to remove, if you have to move. It works with both 220V and 110V.
Don’t hesitate and ask more question!
I will be happy to answer them!
