We built Trivio because we were tired of paying $115/month for software that still couldn't manage a sales pipeline.
Here's the problem: freelancers and solopreneurs are stuck duct-taping five different tools together — QuickBooks for accounting, FreshBooks or HubSpot for invoicing and clients, YNAB for personal budgets, some receipt scanner, and a spreadsheet for everything else. That's $100–200/month in subscriptions, three logins, and constant copy-pasting between apps that were never designed to talk to each other.
Meanwhile:
QuickBooks Desktop has been discontinued. QB Self-Employed has been discontinued. QBO prices are up 64% since 2020 — now $38 to $275/month.
FreshBooks caps you at 5 clients on the entry plan and uses cash-basis bookkeeping — not real double-entry accounting. You can't get a business loan with FreshBooks books.
Every personal finance tool asks for your bank login. Plaid, Open Banking, credential sharing — your financial data flowing through third-party chains you didn't choose.
We said no to all of it.
What Trivio does
🏦 Real double-entry accounting — every transaction creates a balanced journal entry. P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, AR/AP aging — always accurate, always audit-ready. Not cash-basis approximations.
📄 No bank login, ever — upload a bank statement PDF or forward a bank email to your personal Trivio import address. AI reads every transaction and categorises it automatically. No Plaid. No credential sharing. Works with any bank in any country.
🤝 Built-in CRM — track leads, manage your sales pipeline, log client conversations, and convert a won deal directly into an invoice. No separate CRM subscription. No copy-pasting client names between apps.
💼 Personal finance included — separate personal and business expenses in the same platform. QuickBooks, FreshBooks, and Wave are business-only. Trivio handles both.
🤖 AI expense chat — ask your books plain-English questions. "What's my profit this quarter?" "Which invoices are overdue?" "How much did I spend on software last month?" Actual answers from your actual data.
📬 Bank email forwarding — forward transaction notification emails from your bank directly to Trivio. AI parses the email, creates the transaction, and files it. No PDF required.
What makes Trivio genuinely different
No other accounting tool combines double-entry accounting + CRM + personal finance + AI extraction + no-bank-login import in a single platform. We searched. It doesn't exist.
QuickBooks has no CRM. FreshBooks has no real accounting. Wave requires Plaid. YNAB is personal-only. Mint shut down its users with no warning.
We're not trying to be QuickBooks for enterprises. We're building the accounting platform for the 59 million freelancers and solopreneurs in the US who are being overcharged for software built for companies three times their size.
