I m preparing the first Product Hunt launch of EarA, an open-source GTK4 companion for compatible Nothing and CMF earbuds on Linux.
The current release covers battery status, ANC/transparency, EQ and custom EQ, bass level, gestures, codec/profile switching, Find My Earbuds, and ear-tip fit testing. It also uses SDP discovery so newer models are not tied to one hard-coded Bluetooth control channel.
For people who use wireless earbuds on Linux: what is still missing from your desktop experience? Multipoint visibility, wider device support, firmware management, per-app audio routing, or something else?
I m also looking for redacted hardware reports from CMF Buds 2 Plus owners, since that model is still provisional in the support matrix.
Hi Product Hunt! I built EarA because Linux could pair with my earbuds, but the rest of the experience—battery details, ANC, EQ, gestures, and device controls—was still locked inside a phone app.
EarA is an independent GTK4/libadwaita companion that talks directly to compatible Nothing and CMF earbuds over Bluetooth RFCOMM, while BlueZ and PipeWire handle host audio. Version 0.5.0 adds automatic battery refresh, dynamic SDP channel discovery, improved PipeWire handling, a 1–5 bass control, and community-tested CMF Buds 2 support.
The project is GPL-3.0-or-later and ships as .deb, .rpm, AppImage, and source. There is also an interactive web demo if you do not have compatible hardware nearby.
I would especially value feedback from Linux users with other Nothing/CMF models. CMF Buds 2 Plus support is still provisional, so redacted hardware reports are very welcome.
