Know where the light will be. Duskbox shows when and where the sun, the moon and the Milky Way rise and set behind the real mountains, not over a flat textbook horizon, and whether the sky is likely to light up. Made for landscape and night photographers who plan the shot before they leave home.

Hi Product Hunt,
I'm the independent developer behind Duskbox, based in Italy.
The problem it started from: most sunrise and sunset times, from weather apps to many planners, assume a flat horizon. In the mountains the sun can be behind the ridge an hour earlier, and you find out when you're already there. Some photo tools do model terrain, but often as a separate or paid add-on, or only in some views. Duskbox applies the real terrain horizon to every time and alert, for any place and date.
What else is in it:
• A 0–100 colour score for sunrise and sunset, up to 3 days ahead. It reads the cloud layers overhead and for 300 km towards the sun, and says why; beyond 3 days it doesn't guess.
• Offline: terrain for 224 countries and the map of your spot, downloaded once. They keep working where the signal doesn't.
• Classics: 43 famous alignments (Manhattanhenge, Newgrange, Diamond Fuji…) with the next dates and where to stand.
• Sync across your devices through your own iCloud or Google Drive. No account with us, no ads, no tracking.
• Simple on purpose: you pick the light you're after, not a manual.
It's free to download, with golden hour, the real horizon, the colour forecast, offline maps and the Classics in the free tier. Pro is a one-time purchase, no subscription: $9.99 until 9 November, then $12.99. Android is coming.
I'd love to hear what you'd plan with it, and what's missing.
