This is super useful thanks for creating something that just works. Does it ask for confirmation before closing tabs or does it close them right away?
@noah_ortiz Hello Noah, Thank you for your message. The plugin closes duplicate tabs with a single click. The idea was straightforward — click once and get it done.
@hardik_tank Is there a way to visually highlight duplicates before closing them just for confirmation or a quick review?
@nathaniel_cook2 Hi Nathaniel, Thank you for your message. At this stage, the plugin is designed for a quick, uninterrupted experience, where exact duplicate tabs are closed instantly with a single click. The idea is to silently remove only the true duplicates while keeping all unique tabs (even near-duplicates) untouched. Adding a visual review screen would slow things down and somewhat defeat the purpose of having a one-click cleanup tool.
This is fantastic for keeping things tidy but how does it work with Chrome’s memory saving tab suspension features? Do you also pick up on those suspended duplicates?
@jude_gray Hi Judy, Thank you for your question. OrangeTab scans all open tabs regardless of whether they're active or suspended. It identifies duplicates based on their URLs and closes the extras, leaving just one unique tab open. Chrome’s memory saver doesn’t affect that process.
Does it support tab groups?
@matteo_rider Hi Matteo, Thank you for your message. I ran a quick test, and yes, it supports tab groups. If a duplicate match is found, even pinned tabs will be closed, leaving only the unique one open.
How do you deal with tabs that have the same URL but are in different login sessions (like staging versus production)?
Is there any kind of warning before they get closed?
@faisal_iftikhar Hello Faisal, Thank you for your question. The plugin closes tabs based purely on exact URL matches, without checking login sessions, cookies, or environments (like staging vs. production). So, if two tabs have the same URL, one of them will be considered a duplicate and closed — even if they're logged into different accounts or environments.
There’s no warning or session awareness built in, because the focus of the plugin is to keep the experience fast and frictionless. It doesn't inspect session states or page content — just the URL. Goal was to build a "One Click, Cleanup Tool"
