I’ve been DMing for a few years now and one thing I’ve always struggled with is making NPC dialogue feel alive, especially when players go completely off script. I’m pretty good at writing dialogue, but when it comes to actually performing it, every character somehow ends up sounding the same. So I started building a little tool for myself that lets me type what an NPC says and instantly give it a unique AI voice. It started as a personal fix but eventually turned into a small Android app called Dungeon Bard. Right now I can use it to give recurring NPCs different voices, improvise quick dialogue when my players start talking to random tavern keepers, and even add some ambient sound or background music to the scene. It’s been surprisingly fun to use during sessions and made things feel more cinematic. I’m still figuring out how other DMs might actually use something like this.
