This is a series of unrelated short stories where the characters do not know each other, but their stories intersect often (even on the same street). They aren't in chronological order, per se, but you get the sense that a story is progressing as you read.
"The Dead" and "The Sisters" are two of Joyce's greatest works behind his epic novel "Ulysses." He utilizes space, dialect, and social norms to tell the story of modern Dublin- a world of isolation, death, and emotional paralysis in the wake of Ireland lacking a national identity under the reign of the British Crown.
