Hi Product Hunt 👋 Dual Subtitles is my second Chrome extension, and the one I actually wanted for myself. When you learn a language from videos, the choice is always the same: subtitles in the original and you miss half the meaning, or subtitles in your language and you stop hearing the original. I wanted both lines on screen at the same time, without pausing or flipping tracks. Two things I'm proud of: Any language, on both sites. On YouTube it takes whatever subtitle languages the video has. On Netflix it doesn't depend on the catalogue at all — if a title has no Serbian track, you still get Serbian as the second line, translated on the fly. It needs at least one subtitle track on the video — it reads subtitles, it doesn't generate them from audio. No backend. There's no server of mine behind the extension. Two consequences: it can't stop working because something went offline, and there's no place where your viewing history gets stored — I don't know what you watch. The only thing it sends me is anonymous usage stats (which features get used, not which videos). The small stuff: the overlay looks and scales like the player's own captions, you can drag it anywhere, and selecting a word copies it. If you want the video to pause while your cursor is over the subtitles, that's an option in the settings — it's off by default so it doesn't get in the way. I'd love honest feedback — which videos or languages give you trouble, and what would make you use it every day.
