Hey Product Hunt community, I am thrilled to share DropSlim with you today.As a developer, I already used a local tool to quickly optimize images outside of my core development environment, for example, to shrink files before sending them via email. It was also the perfect, dead-simple solution to hand over to my clients. However, that tool stopped being actively maintained and updated. So I decided to build a modern, future-proof alternative myself. DropSlim runs 100 percent locally on your machine. Your images never leave your computer, there is no tracking, and no internet connection is required. It bridges the gap between simple client use and developer workflows: The Desktop GUI (Windows and macOS): A minimalist interface built for everyone. Just drag and drop individual files or entire folders. Folders are processed recursively to save hours of manual work. The Desktop CLI (macOS, Linux soon): Perfect for running quick optimization scripts right from the terminal. A direct Homebrew core formula integration is already planned for the next steps. DropSlim handles PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, and native Mac HEIC. It is fully open-source under the MIT license and completely free, with no accounts, no subscriptions, and no paywalls.
