Hi Product Hunt, I am Davide, I built DrivePulse on my own. It started when Volkswagen switched off We Connect Go. The little dongle I had been using to log my trips and my fuel use became a piece of plastic in the OBD2 socket, and the trips went with it. So I wrote the replacement I wanted, and then kept going. What it does: it records every drive by itself, works out real fuel use from one full tank to the next instead of trusting the optimistic dashboard figure, reads live engine data while a fault is actually happening, and explains fault codes in plain words instead of hex. On some makes it reads more than the generic sensors: the odometer from the cluster, the litres in the tank, the soot in the particulate filter. What it does not do, and I would rather say it here than let you find out: it only asks the car questions, it never gives it commands. It writes nothing to the control units, clears no fault codes and performs no resets. It does not replace a workshop tool for ABS or airbags, it cannot tell you whether a car passes an inspection, and on many electric cars the standard diagnosis does not answer at all, because OBD2 came out of emissions law. It needs a generic ELM327 adapter, nothing of mine. There is no account and no server: your trips stay on your phone. It was on iPhone first. It is on Android too now, with Android Auto, which is the thing people asked me for most. If you try it, tell me what your car refused to answer. That is the part I cannot test on my own: I have one car, and the readings that matter are the ones I have never seen.
