Dreamwriters

During my 20-year marketing career, I was often frustrated with my own lack of creativity. How had I fallen into this rut, when as a child I had been a passionate artist, bursting with ideas? Now, as a mother of two young girls, I wanted to find a way to cultivate and nurture their creativity. Watching the late education and creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson’s TED talk, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?” inspired me to take a second look at my own early love of drawing and writing, and to ask how the fusion of illustration and narrative could inspire creativity in young people. That's why I established Dreamwriters, a self-publishing platform for young creative writers and artists. By connecting aspiring young authors with the work of talented professional illustrators, giving them a voice, and publishing real books with their stories, this platform is meant to serve as a foundation for lifelong creative learning. It also provides an important channel for illustrators to work with young collaborators - and gain new audiences for their art. So, whether their tales start 10,000 leagues under the sea or on sweltering asphalt streets, my mission is to encourage creativity in young writers by giving them a chance to delight the world with their stories. Authoring and publishing a book is the springboard to a life of creative fulfillment, and Dreamwriters aims to bring that opportunity to young people in a completely new way.
