There's a lot of focus and block sites extensions, but I thought many of them lacked a key factor, the motivation trigger. You want to keep away from doomscrolling for a reason, and displaying this reason while you wait to unlock the blocked app will make you think and deliberately choose either to focus on your goals or be lazy, instead of just being blocked.

One thing that would make this way more useful for me is a "snooze with accountability" option, so when the gate pops up I can choose to wait 10 or 15 minutes and it pings me with what time I wasted. Pure blocking feels too punishing for smaller distractions, and having a softer middle ground would make me actually stick with it instead of uninstalling after a week.

@kemalcakandg84 Thanks for the feedback! Totally agree that a hard blocking may feel too punishing for smaller distractions. Coincidentally a similar feature is being built, a warning notification, instead of blocking, it adds awareness so you stay in control but break the autopilot scrolling. And your "snooze with accountability" idea (postpone + see the time you spent) fits perfectly with that, so I'm gonna seriously consider adding it to the roadmap.

Does the motivational gate actually unlock the site after a set time, or do you have to finish some task first before it lets you through?

@yaar58863951762 You have to wait a set time (chose by user on settings page) before unlocking the button that dismiss the overlay
