Building on our core product (a first time homebuyer educational platform) Doorsteps Swipe was created in order to acquire more new users in our target demographic (young renters) without making them dive straight into our heavier web-app experience first. We just wanted to get them comfortable with the idea of looking at houses on a medium that was friendly, fun and familiar.
Because our startup was acquired by Move, Inc. (realtor.com) we gained access to an unprecedented and complete/accurate national database of homes that could be wrapped in a modern mobile UI. Instead of expecting users to know their criteria before searching, we decided to serve them properties right away...and then expose preferences as they further interacted with the app. Users can see this information in their summary to get a better idea of what their tendencies are.
We expanded the content set late last year with the inclusion of rentals and continue to build and iterate product that helps renters and future homebuyers understand the nuances of the moving process as they move along the journey.
