Hi, I am Jonathan Schafer, founder of JDAC LLC in Arizona. I spent 20 years in healthcare technology much of it in solution engineering, and product teams, where I learned that a product is not ready when it looks ready. It is ready when it holds up for real users, can be handed off, and can be fixed without breaking something else.
When I started building with vibe-coding tools like Lovable and Base44, I realized that older discipline is missing from these tools. The tools helped us build fast, and they never helped me check what matters once real users arrive: who can see whose data, whether I could rebuild the app if the platform changed, and whether a real purchase actually worked.
One build taught me that clearly. I spent 12.5 hours on a project, lost about 3 hours to a platform cutover, and rebuilt 95 percent of it in 72 minutes because I had a rebuild file that mapped what the app actually was. That file, not the tool, is what saved the launch.
I wrote DON'T SHIP IT NAKED from that work, so other builders can run those same checks before they ship, instead of learning them after something breaks.
I value your feedback. Which check do you run first before you ship, and which one have you skipped and later wished you had not? What is the one check you wish your tool did for you, but does not?
