Hi everyone. I am Shabbir, a product designer in the Netherlands, and I built Docmode on evenings and weekends. It started because I kept writing something in one tool and then rebuilding it somewhere else just to put it on the web. Notion is great at plenty of things, but it is heavy to open and publishing always felt bolted on. I wanted the writing and the publishing to be the same act. So Docmode is a block editor that opens instantly, and a folder of documents is also a website. Navigation, a homepage you choose, your own domain, your own logo. The screenshots here are my personal site, shabbir.nl, which is a folder in Docmode and nothing else. A few things I decided on purpose. No databases or boards, because that is somebody else's job. No live cursors, because I would rather tell you honestly that someone else is editing than pretend it works. Publishing is never metered, no view caps or page caps on either plan. Everything exports as plain Markdown in one zip, on the free plan too. Free is 0 and needs no card. Pro is 9 euros a month for your own domain, passwords on pages, and the API. It is one person, so it is early. What I would really like to know: does the publishing flow make sense the first time you see it, and what did you expect to find that was not there? I will be here all day.
