My senior year of high school was filled with countless memories created from numerous events, and almost every single one gave way to DJfindr. Whether it was a cultural dance club event led, a backyard party on the day of finals, or my neighbor's sweet 16, as a fairly outgoing and social guy, I was repeatedly asked the same question by multiple people: "Parth, do you know a DJ?" At the time, my best friend funnily enough just started dj'ing so I connected him and even stood on with him at the events, helping manage overhead. As the summer came closer to ending, and I was about to leave for college, all the thoughts hit me. "Why am I connecting people to DJs, and not just me, I know these people asked other friends of mine as well. Why are we using word of mouth? Why do these DJs have an unstructured Instagram profile to showcase their talent, and so unstructured that next to an event post is their Bali trip with their parents. How come we have to use a Google Form to submit interest to book them, and wait...a customer in 2022 hates to wait." DJs as talented as they are—are completely disconnected from modern service booking processes and productivity tools.
I got to college in August that year and started building DJfindr, as the AirBnb for DJs. I don't have expertise in DJ'ing or performance services, but I have expertise in connecting someone who wants something to someone that can give them it; My consulting agency, domain reselling, role in my family hospitality brand, and my dad's pharmaceutical distribution company, taught me well.
In the past three years, while building, I've been connecting with DJs via cold outreach on social media. After discussing their current pain points, to date, I've attracted over 40 DJs that are all ready to test the platform as soon as it becomes available with some having completed a build demo with me. I've caught attention so well that my potential users message me asking for updates on the release of the platform, that's something I haven't achieved before, I've never achieved this much appreciation for something I've built by the people meant to use it—ever—in the past.
