Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I created DistraGuard because YouTube is incredibly useful for learning, but it is also designed to keep us watching Shorts, recommendations and unrelated content. My goal was to build a simple Chrome extension that gives users more control without requiring an account or sending their settings to an external service. DistraGuard can block Shorts, activate Focus Mode, filter videos by keywords or channels, hide individual videos and temporarily pause protections. It also has an important family use: parents can block keywords, channels and videos they do not want their children to watch, then protect those restrictions with a password. It is not an absolute parental control system, because Chrome extensions can still be disabled or removed.
