This is neat! I am a bit lost, though. Is the idea that everybody is listening to different music? Or, rather, there is one other person listening to the same music you are at a time? What are the music selections you are pulling from?
I also had a bit of an issue with timezones, it seems βΒ I tried to start a disco at 21:00 in New York and it started it at 03:00 instead. Or possibly another issue is causing this.
@drewbeck Hi @drewbeck, Thx! When you hear a song there is only one other user that hears the same song. The idea is to find that person. Enter their code and earn points. The next song you will be connected to an other person. etc. We will look into the timing issue. Make sure you use a 24 hour clock notation. What was the name of the disco you made?
@drewbeck Hi! Your disco is at 9pm New York time. The email used the Amsterdam time zone (where we are based). We will fix this, thanks for the report! So you know your disco is still on for the right time. Have fun!
This is such a great product for now, completely awesome and needs to be shared out to the world.
Host it with your team or friends and donate what you think it's worth.
Distance Disco is made by Mark Meeuwenoord, Arjan Scherpenisse and Klasien van de Zandschulp. Design by TIN and PR by Lucy van Kleef But I could only find Arjen on Twitter.

@milann This video explains the concept better I think:
Basically, Distance Disco is a "digital matchmaking dance party": find the other person dancing to your song, by showing off your best dance moves. We used to have an silent disco app for this (DuoDisco), for use on actual dance floors, but now with the pandemic we pivoted into a host-your-own-disco-at-home webapp.
