Dictawave turns an audio or video file you own into an editable, timestamped transcript in the browser — no meeting bot, no install, no account needed to try. Upload a podcast episode, interview, lecture, or voice memo (up to 500 MB). Dictawave detects the language, optionally separates speakers, and gives you a transcript you can fix inline, then export as TXT, SRT, or VTT. 99 languages. Free tier: 60 minutes a month. No platform downloads: bring a file you own or have permission to use.

How would you rate it overall? ★★★★★
Why is it fantastic?
Full disclosure: I'm the maker, so discount my opinion accordingly.
I use Dictawave almost every day for my own recordings, and the part
that still surprises me is the word-level playback. I can click any word
in the transcript and hear the exact second it was spoken. Fixing a
wrong name used to mean hunting through the audio; now it's two clicks.
What I like: the editor gets out of the way. No modal dialogs, no
"processing" spinner you have to babysit.
What else did you consider?
Before building this I used [TurboScribe / Otter / whatever you actually used].
They were fine for getting text, but editing was painful — paragraph-level
seeking, and no way to jump to a specific word.
What can be improved?
Honestly: translation and summaries are still "coming soon". And I'd like
a real mobile app — right now mobile web works but it's not the same.
