I've captured every day of my life in photos since 2009. Every January since then, I've built a "year in one mosaic" by hand, photo by photo, for over 18 years. You can see them all on the site, going back to 2009.
Diary of the Day is my ritual finally turned into a tool anyone can use. The idea: a diary that writes itself. You upload a photo (or five) or bulk photos of the whole year, and the day fills in around it. Place pulled from EXIF, weather and moon phase from GPS, the song you had on repeat, your steps and sleep from Oura/Apple Health/Strava, the people you were with. You add a sentence, story of the day or what you are grateful for.
It captures the journeys too. Every kind: flights, trains, car, motorbike and bike routes drawn along the real roads. Plus every place you stop: cafés, restaurants, hotels, monuments, UNESCO sites, galleries — 24 types in all, or add your own. Then the magic moment: your year builds into a mosaic, one tile per day. At the end of the year you export it as a printed calendar, beautiful poster, just a text diary, or a flight map for your wall. It turns into the map of a life, not just a feed of photos.
