AI Browser Extension for Contextual Definitions

Dexicon is a browser extension designed to help you fully understand online content without interrupting your workflow. It provides real-time, contextual explanations for any text you select—be it a word, phrase, or acronym—directly on your page.

Thanks for checking out DexiCon. I’m excited to finally share this.
I started building it while I was in school because I kept getting pulled out of focus when trying to read dense material. I’d hit an acronym or a weirdly phrased sentence, then lose my place jumping to Google or ChatGPT to figure out what it meant.
With today’s endless distractions, staying focused while reading online is already hard. Even small interruptions, like switching tabs to search for a definition, can break your flow and result in upwards of 30 seconds of lost time on tasks. Once you’ve left the page, trying to slot that new information back into the original context becomes even harder.
DexiCon is designed to fix that. It uses AI to generate contextual explanations for selected text by analyzing the surrounding content on the page. Then it displays the explanation just below your selection so your eyes stay trained, your focus stays intact, and you can keep reading without breaking stride.
There is no API key or technical setup required. Just a simple tool to help you better understand what you're reading, right where you're reading it.
I built this as a solo dev and recent grad. While it started as something I needed for myself, I hope it helps others too. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think or how it could be more useful in your workflow.
