I would like to thank @_sgangadhar for hunting us!
When we say "Community for Developers" people instantly imagine a Q&A platform. But in reality developers don't want just Q&A. They like to gather, connect and share knowledge like everybody else. @fazlerocks and I started Devmag to address these needs.
Our goal is to create a friendly place for software developers where they can come, hangout and talk about programming. Naturally when developers will gather they will ask a lot of questions and share their knowledge - hence the existence of Q&A. But we also want to provide a good discovery platform to developers so that they can discover awesome programming content, GitHub Repos, CodePen experiments and much more in a single platform.
I am super excited to know what you guys think of the product! :)
This looks really awesome. Also, a great implementation of Material while keeping a unique look and feel. Interesting to see how you build/designed the timeline, #'s and such!

Really nice website. But how will you get engaged users? What's the engagement model? Ultimately it will turn into a magazine or a Q&A forum.
@sandeepg33k I read the detailed response and the community looks really nice. But I can't understand what's the key that will turn me into engaging with the website. Please don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to think how the difference.
Got some questions, if this is built to be a business.
1) Do you think developers (in future) will open devmag first instead of Google/Stackoverflow
2) If answer to above is no, then how do you plan to implant devmag into developers mind in a world of StackOverflow (and its subsites) which anyways shows results on top in Google.
@das_vicky
Hi Gourav,
Thanks for asking! We don't want to be a search engine target like Stack Overflow. Instead we want to be an engagement platform for developers. Most of the developers visit SO to find solutions to specific programming problems. But how will they keep themselves up to date with what's happening in programming world (lots of new libraries, frameworks etc release everyday)?
You can not ask for opinions/architectural advices etc on Stack Overflow. We want to address these needs. Also we help developers connect with influencers/celebrity programmers easily through this platform and surround themselves with really smart people.
So, in short Stack Overflow is that friend of yours who gives solutions to specific problems. Devmag is your colleague with whom you hangout to engage in deeper discussions and discover awesome stuff. :)
Hope this answers your question! Feel free to let us know your feedback. :)
P.S. We have talked to a lot of users on Devmag to understand their requirements and problems. Now we are working hard to release the next version to address these needs and improve the overall experience.
