Hi everybody! @promothash1 and I are so happy to introduce Democ-- a little project designed to get people thinking about how we can use voting in places where we don't currently think about voting. To collectively amplify our voices and create the change we want to see in the world. We are both romantic believers in the promise of the Internet, the decentralized chaotic old Internet that was going to, and still can, empower the little guy and change things for the better for so many people. Democ is a platform that imperfectly enforces “one vote per person” and provides structure around who can vote on what issues. So you can create a group to vote at your school or work, with people who share your email domain, or you can vote on issues locally, or form a group to vote on the move during a protest... We want people to rediscover the power of collective speech. To reframe voting as something you do all the time-- not just once a year in a library basement. Vote on things in your real life groups, with imperfect but maybe good-enough tech. Democ, Inc is a non-profit and we're hoping others may want to help us take this project forward.
