I'm Jarrod, the maker behind DecisionLab.
The honest backstory: I kept hitting the same problem every Australian hits when trying to make a financial decision. Want to know your take-home pay after a pay rise? Three calculators give three different numbers. Want to figure out stamp duty in your state? Every bank has a calculator but they all funnel you toward their home loan. Want to compare salary sacrifice vs a pay rise? Good luck.
The existing options were either:
Government tools (MoneySmart) - accurate but clunky and limited
Bank calculators - slick but designed to capture leads, not to actually help you
Random calculator sites - often using outdated rates or hidden behind sign-ups
So I built the thing I wanted: 137 free Australian financial calculators, all updated for FY 2025-26, no sign-ups, no lead capture, no ads (well, applying for AdSense, but you know what I mean). Income tax, stamp duty by state, FIRE, super, mortgage, payroll tax, hourly to salary, the lot.
What started as "I'll build an income tax calculator" turned into a much bigger project when I realised there was no Australian site that did all of this in one place with current data. Then I added a directory of 73,000+ ASIC-registered financial professionals because if you can't DIY it, you should be able to find someone who can.
It's a static site (no React, no backend, no database) which means it loads instantly and costs me nothing to host. All Python-generated, deployed to Netlify. About 5,800 pages now.
Built solo. Australian-focused but happy to chat about the technical approach (programmatic SEO, static site generation, ASIC data parsing) if anyone's curious.
Cheers
Jarrod
