Debate gives people a dedicated place to debate topics ranging from technology and business to politics, culture, education, and everyday questions. Instead of arguing through a normal comment section, users can organize the discussion around a clear topic and different positions. Who is it for? Debate is for curious people who enjoy discussing ideas, challenging opinions, learning from different perspectives, and having more thoughtful conversations online.
Tried it out and the structured positions actually made a tech thread way more readable than a typical comment mess. Surprised how much calmer the conversation felt when everyone had a clear stance to defend.
@ensarokunakol Yeah, exactly. The structure is basically there to make it easier and more accessible for you to actually argue about things.
Since we have it segregated into different topics, we have both free and structured debates:
• Structured debates: you have timers to keep things on track.
• Free debates: there are no timers; it is just a panel where you get on there to discuss.
This allows you to argue much more directly and consistently, so you can find the arguments you want to debate and change your opinions.
A blind mode toggle for replies would be great, where you can read someone's argument before seeing their name, follower count, or past comments. It keeps the focus on the actual position instead of who's saying it, which would make debates feel a lot more honest and less about status.
@recepbatzg78 Yeah, you're definitely right. We can definitely implement an anonymous mode where you basically keep yourself anonymous and you're not traceable, so people can't really see exactly who you are.
This also protects people who might want to be protected for their own reasons, and for privacy's sake essentially.
And obviously, people might feel scared to put themselves out there directly, so being anonymous just allows them to be much more consistent with the way that they argue overall.
