Dear Diary is a privacy-first journaling app designed to make daily reflection simple and meaningful. Write freely, track your mood, build consistent journaling habits with reminders and streaks, revisit memories through a beautiful calendar, and gain insights into your emotional patterns. Your journal stays private while offering a calm, distraction-free space to reflect, grow, and understand yourself better.

How does the privacy-first part actually work in practice, like is everything stored on-device or do you still use any cloud at all?
@mertaaz4of Thanks for the great question, and for taking an interest in Dear Diary! 😊
Privacy was the starting point for the app, not something we tried to add later.
All of your journal entries stay on your device and aren't uploaded to our servers. The app works completely offline, so you can write anytime without needing an internet connection.
The only information we collect is cloud synced preferences such as notification times and minimal anonymous analytics to help us understand app performance, fix bugs, and improve the experience. We never collect, read, or store the contents of your journal.
The goal was simple: when you write something personal, it should stay personal. That's the kind of journaling experience we wanted to build.
how does the mood tracking actually work, is it something you tag manually or does it pick up on what you wrote
@ahin259931 Thanks for the question!
Right now, mood tracking is completely manual. When you create an entry, you can choose the mood that best reflects how you're feeling. I wanted to keep it simple and intentional, so you're always in control rather than having the app guess based on what you wrote.
I'm exploring AI-powered insights for the future, but if I add them, they'll always be optional and privacy-conscious.
the calendar view is such a thoughtful touch, scrolling back through past entries by date feels way more intuitive than a endless list. nice work keeping the whole experience calm and clutter-free.
@muammerida25618 Thank you so much! 😊 That was exactly what I was hoping for.
I wanted looking back on past memories to feel natural, so the calendar view felt like a much better fit than an endless scrolling list. I'm really glad you noticed the calmer, clutter-free approach.
Thanks again for taking the time to try Dear Diary and share your thoughts. It really means a lot!
