Dayside is a free, open-source world clock for the Mac menu bar. Each city gets a row in the color of its sky right now, so you can see who is asleep. Paste a message to read times in 16 languages, or find a meeting time that works for everyone.

Hi, I'm Ninon. I made Dayside.
Whenever I talk to someone in another time zone, I always have the same questions. What time is it there? Are they still awake? And when can we meet without making someone stay up late?
I wanted to see the time at a glance. So I made each city a little row with the color of its sky at that moment. The colors are calculated from the sun's position. Dayside doesn't use weather data.
There's also a world map. You can drag it or move the time slider, and all the clocks move together.
With Claude's help, I built the core code in Rust. It runs offline on your Mac and can find dates, times, places and time zones in pasted messages or emails, in 16 languages. If a time has two possible meanings, Dayside shows both. It also tells you when a time doesn't exist because of daylight saving time.
For meetings across time zones, Dayside can help find a time that works for everyone. If it's a regular meeting, it can rotate the bad hours, so the same person doesn't always have to stay up late.
Thanks for stopping by! A quick update: 1.0.1 is out. The Earth window now gives its memory back when you close it, and Russian and Polish country names are read in their inflected forms. The full list is in the release notes: https://github.com/ninondev/Dayside/releases/tag/v1.0.1
If Dayside reads a time wrong in your language, please tell me. I'd like to fix it.
