Social media was built around audiences. Dayoff is built around people.
Dayoff is a DM-first social platform for finding genuine one-on-one connections. Instead of collecting followers, likes, and comments, people share their personality, interests, and what they’re looking for as an invitation to start a conversation.
We’re building a quieter, more human alternative to traditional social media—where the goal isn’t to perform for the largest crowd, but to find the right person to talk to.

Connections > Followers. Dayoff is a DM-first social space — the conversation is the product, not an afterthought bolted onto a feed. It's built for people who'd rather have a few real exchanges than perform for a crowd. Profiles are invitations to talk, not walls to like.
I thought of Dayoff back in 2016 as an alternative to the social media options out there. Something between the chaos of a Discord server, a nested Threads feed, etc, and the intimacy that is dating apps. Dayoff is not a dating app. It's a friends app, built around the premise that relationships are built on DMs. No clout chasing, no followers, no reply threads. Your post invites others to DM you. Simple.
The goal is to address numerous problems in existing social apps that fail to deliver on their promise of "connecting" us. I'm tired of weeding through r4r subreddit posts, unanswered DMs, ghosting, Discord introduction channels that belong in 1996, and endless reply threads on any one of your top social media platforms. I care about app fatigue, about harvesting healthy social communities and open spaces for creative spaces, thought dumping, this-is-who-i-am social media and not performative this-is-what-the-algorithm likes posts. I believe the time is right for some new platforms to compete in this space.
I also provide privacy-first incentives, especially in regards to women. People should feel safe, in control, and comfortable. If a woman wants to only chat with other women, that should be fully supported. If someone wants to only show their content to men 30+, that should be supported.
Mood-based posting is possible. If I'm sad, I don't want to chat with someone who's looking to party. If I'm bored, maybe that's good enough. With mood selection, you can connect on your mood in the moment. Simple.
If you're a selective intimate, you know how hard it is to walk into a room full of strangers, and converse or make any attempt at making a genuine connection. You understand how rare that is. The power of meeting someone and connecting is extremely valuable and most often happens at random. Well, why not improve those odds? Let's invite people from all communities, across the globe, to share their thoughts and not just gain a follower, but gain a connection. And if you're inbox is too full, well I guess you'll need to reach out to me to see how we can deal with that.
Are there issues with starting social media apps that I'm not foreseeing? Absolutely. But do I feel compelled enough to introduce a new platform to address the inefficiencies of today's market? 100%. So give it a shot. Sign up. Here's my profile. https://dayoff.io/@alwrx
Also, I wrote a somewhat personal reflection on connection and why I built Dayoff. Here's the Substack article: https://dayoffio.substack.com/p/in-search-of-connection
