Dating Counselor is your brutally honest dating friend. Answer a short audit about a match, before or after a date, and get a Red Flag Score, a Ghost Meter, and clear advice. It flags scams, manipulation, and ghosting. Private by design, in 6 languages. First match free.
Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm the solo maker of Dating Counselor, and this one is personal.
I started building it after my father lost a large part of his savings to a romance scam. Watching someone I love get manipulated so slowly and so completely, and realizing how invisible the warning signs are until it's too late, I couldn't let it go. I kept thinking: what if he'd had something that simply asked the right questions and said, "this doesn't add up" before the money left?
So that's what Dating Counselor is. You answer a short, honest audit about someone you're talking to or dating, and it gives you:
a Red Flag Score (0–100) with a clear breakdown of what's concerning,
a Ghost Meter that estimates how likely they are to ghost you,
and a straight-talking analysis.
My mission goes beyond scams. I want it to help people spot and step away from manipulative, abusive, and even dangerous partners. The patterns that are so hard to see from the inside.
I'm also working on an update aimed at younger users: helping flag the warning signs when someone they're chatting with online may not be who they claim to be, or may be an adult with bad intentions. It won't replace a trusted grown-up, but it can raise a flag early, and sometimes that's all it takes.
Dating Counselor was built for everyone, all ages, all genders, all orientations. Danger doesn't discriminate, and neither should the help.
A few principles I stuck to: privacy first (it never stores the other person's real name; everything stays on your device), no subscription (one-time unlock), and it works in 6 languages.
I'd genuinely love your feedback on the concept, on what would make you trust a tool like this, and on the child-safety direction especially. And if it helps even one person avoid what happened to my dad, it was worth every late night. ❤️
